    Project25

    Joshy Day . April 6, 2019

Project 25 is an annual, collaborative, community service campaign based in San Diego California. Over the past six years Project 25 has helped inspire and fund the ideas of thousands of students to creatively raise tens of thousands of dollars to make an impact in their schools, communities, city, and the world.

Every year Urban Youth Collaborative puts on Project 25 with 50 San Diego middle and high school clubs receive mini grants of 100 dollars each.  Based on a parable Jesus teaches (Matthew 25), each club is given six weeks to multiply that money in order to make an impact in other people’s lives. As in years past, Converge and Club Blank have decided to pool their mini grants together to make an even larger impact.  They have decided to follow suit this year.  It was a unanimous vote for both clubs to invest their $200 and give it to the Lively family to help with medical expenses.

This year, students from Converge and Club Blank learned about Joshua Lively's condition.  Joshua is 4 years old and was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma in November 2018.  "Joshy" is the son of Joshua and Kristen Lively.  Almost every student at Coronado High School and Coronado Middle school know Mrs. Lively.  She is Coronado Middle School's premier 6th grade science teacher.  Mrs. Lively actively supports Club Blank as the club's sponsoring teacher.  Mrs. Lively hosted Club Blank in her classroom for the past 3 years, and would have happily hosted this year, but needed to put her family first to take care of "Joshy".

How can you help support the Lively family?  We are glad you asked. Several of the leading shops in Coronado are partnering with us. Shop local on "Joshy Day" at 5 Loaves 2 Fish Clothing, El Roy, High Tide Coronado, Holland's BicyclesLeroy's Kitchen + Lounge, Lil' Piggy's Bar-B-Q, MaretaliaMooTime Creamery, Poke 1 2 3, Celtic CornerStake Chop House, Village Pizzeria, West Pac Noodle Bar or Which Wich and a portion of sales will be given to the Lively family or Neuroblastoma research.  We are also grateful to our mayor Richard Bailey for officially dedicating Saturday, April 6th to Joshua Lively.

Our hope is for all of Coronado to shop local and support the Lively family. If you would like to give directly to Neuroblastoma research, or learn more about Neuroblastoma in children, log onto www.BeatNB.org.
