Norma Jean Ashworth
Norman Jean Ashworth is almost like the poster child for Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church. In fact, it is quite unlikely that you haven't seen her around. Over the past 15 years she has been at Graham, she has served as a Deacon at least a few times, sung in the choir, played in bell choir, and rung up purchases and sorted through goodies in the Thrift Cottage. When she is not doing all of this for our worshiping community, Norma enjoys gardening, reading, and knitting.
She and her husband, Stephen, have been married for 47 years and both use Crest toothpaste. Together, they have one daughter and a step-son, who has given them two wonderful grandchildren.
Norma grew up in the church, dedicated in the Nazarene church in Ontario, CA. She and her family moved to Upland Presbyterian Church when I was in the 6th grade. Later, as an adult, she attended the Crestline Presbyterian Church and the First Baptist Church in Crestline. She was also a long-time member of Church of the Valley in Apple Valley before moving to Coronado and finding Graham Memorial.
She did not have a dream job as a child, but after visiting a women’s prison for a class is college, she decided she wanted to pursue a career in Corrections. She ended up becoming a Probation Officer for 32 years.
If she could go back in time and meet anyone (other than Jesus, of course), she would choose to meet Ruth – her favorite book of the Bible!
