Adult Ministry

“No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.”
I John 4:12

Men and Women of Any Age

God created men and women to be helpmates, counterbalances, and companions to one another. Jointly, they more adequately understand and explain life’s mysteries and the hope within themselves. For this reason, Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church offers a variety of forums in which both men and women may interact to play out this biblical example. Adult co-ed ministries are responsible for many dear friendships, often spanning five or more decades, among our members. Our invitation to visit all the groups described below is open to the community, single, engaged, married, divorced, or widowed. No advance notice necessary. Never an obligation to become a member.

Intentional Parenting Class

Intentional parenting is the opposite of quick-fix parenting. Intentional parenting is a way to raise children to become healthy, independent young adults.  It’s based on solid principles, that applied over time, actually result in less-stressed parents and happier, better-adjusted and more successful kids.  Intentional parenting means you’ve got more than good intentions; you’ve got a plan.  The class will run from Sunday, September 8 through November 10 at 9 am in the Kirk House parlor.

Men’s Ministry

“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”
Proverbs 27:17

Today, men are under stress by demanding careers, the need to adapt to an ever-changing financial landscape and to resist secular world temptation of lifestyles that oppose biblical instruction. It doesn't hurt to have a little help.

The focus of the men’s ministry is to lead men to help other men to develop excellence and integrity, strengthen knowledge of the Lord, increase desire to live in obedience to His word, and to equip themselves for spiritual service at home, in the church, workplace, community, and world. This ministry relies upon intentional prayer, accountability, study, and fellowship among men. These groups are open to men 20 years old and up in the community.

Men’s Fellowship Breakfast

GMPC Parish Hall · 975 C Avenue

Saturdays · Year Round · 7:00 - 8:00am

It’s a guy thing. Once a week, men meet over coffee and bagels to explore God’s Word and, occasionally, solve world problems as Pastor David facilitates the often-rousing discussion. At the session’s end, the men pray for one another, seeking to be men of integrity and holding one another accountable during the next week. From wise guys to wise men in a flash of 90 minutes. A great opportunity for male bonding and an all-around good time of fellowship.

Coronado Men’s Connection

GMPC Parish Hall

Third Monday · Year Round · 6:30 – 8:30pm

A men's group devoted to the restoration of family values in Coronado, which is "Jesus centered but inter-denominational". We come together monthly to explore it, understand it, embrace it and spread it. We gather in a relaxed atmosphere, talking openly and intellectually about the way God has called us to live our lives; we strive to strengthen our families; we seek to honor our wives with love and respect; and we are concerned about our children's formation and their future. We invite all men to explore this vision with us; to build upon the experience what we have inherited that we might pass on our legacy to the next generation with respect, integrity and joy. Join us for an evening of men getting to know each other. Light appetizers will be served.

Women’s Ministry

“No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.”
I John 4:12

The women of Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church look for opportunities to make and strengthen friendships among themselves in the groups described on this page. All our women's groups welcome guests to safe and trustworthy environments in which everyone can share experiences, knowledge . . . and acceptance.

Ladies’ Bible Study | “Sermon on the Mount”

Select Mondays | 9:30-11:30AM or 6:00-8:00PM | Parish Hall

In His sweeping depiction of kingdom citizenship, Jesus utters some of the most familiar passages in all of Scripture. Most of us have encountered the Sermon on the Mount in fragments, considering its subdivisions as complete teachings in their own right—a study on blessedness; a reflection on the Lord’s Prayer; a discussion of religious devotion, money, ambition, and relationships.

What if we navigated these three chapters in Matthew as they were originally heard? What if we read them as one cohesive, well-ordered message, intended to challenge us to think differently about what it means to be a follower of Jesus?

This 9-session study by Jen Wilkin will give us the opportunity to do just that. Come and learn from Jesus, just as His disciples did, in this verse-by-verse study of Jesus's Sermon on the Mount . Including teaching videos.

  • The morning study will be facilitated by Kaye Schneider and will meet approximately every other week for nine sessions beginning on Sept. 9, in the Parish Hall from 9:30-11:30 am. Please note: the Monday morning Bible Study is expanding its invitation to all in our Graham Community - couples, singles, homeschool moms, we welcome you all.

  • The evening study will be facilitated by Monica Piepenkotter and will meet on second Monday of the month beginning on Sept. 9, in the Parish Hall from 6:00-8:00 pm.

  • You may register and purchase books in between services on Sunday, September 8th at the outside table during Coffee Connection.

For more information, please contact the church office at (619) 435-6860 or info@gmpc.org. Don’t forget to invite your friends and neighbors to join us!

Evening Circle

Different Residence Each Month

4:00pm

Evening Circle is a fellowship of Christian women who gather to support one another in love and kindness, and to praise, worship, honor, and learn more about God and the precious gift of his son Jesus Christ.

The group meets the last Monday of each month September through June, at a different members' residence each month. Please call to confirm location or find it in the weekly Church bulletin. At the end of the evening, members head home to their family responsibilities feeling renewed, refreshed, and rejoicing that they had a special fellowship together. Doesn’t this sound like your kind of group?
